Double Buns (Zwieback)

  1. 1 Teaspoon of Sugar
  2. 1/2 Cup Lukewarm water
  3. 2packages of Active Dry Yeast

(Let this Rise for 10 minutes)

  1. 5 Cups of Lukewarm water
  2. 3 Tablespoons of Sugar
  3. 1 Tablespoon of Salt
  4. 1 Cup of Butter
  5. 1/2 Cup of Shortening

Mix together, add yeast mixture and slowly incorporate 14 Cups of Flour

After mixed, place in greased bowl, in a warmer place until dough is doubled in size.  Punch down with fist and let rise (double in size again).  Once this has happened, the dough is ready to be shaped into 6 dozen little buns.

Place dough balls onto bake sheet, let rise one more time

Place in oven at 375’F for 15-20 minutes (time in oven will vary)
